Shi Han Chan

A registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist (MA, Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapy, UK) and experienced counsellor of over 15 years (MSc, British Psychological Society), Shi Han has worked therapeutically with individuals and groups across a broad spectrum of emotional needs, both in Singapore and the UK.

Shi Han is currently working with the Mood Disorders Unit, and has provided Dance Movement Therapy services for the Child Guidance Clinic, Stepping Stones Rehabilitation Centre and Early Psychosis Intervention Programme at the Institute of Mental Health of Singapore. Shi Han also sees individual clients in her private practice. Her therapeutic approach of combining verbal and non- verbal modalities opens up different access points to issues and resources, appealing to clients who appreciate fuller ways to grasp the complexities of the self. Through an integrative approach, she draws on psychodynamic attachment, humanistic and existential psychotherapeutic frameworks, as well as dance movement, somatic and mindfulness-based therapies.

As the Founder of Movemental, Shi Han nurtures her vision of shaping and improving access to Dance Movement Therapy by leading her team to spearhead Dance Movement Therapy projects across the island. She is an Associate Lecturer for the Graduate Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy programme and Undergraduate Psychology courses at the Singapore University of Social Sciences. Shi Han was a panel speaker and presenter on the inaugural Creative Arts Therapies Symposium 2025. Receiving a close to perfect score on her MA Dance Movement Psychotherapy thesis, Shi Han was invited to guest teach at her alma mater, the University of Derby
